Peripheral Blocks
The peripheral device blocks are designed to allow the standard peripherals, such as mouse, keyboard and game controller, to be used by models. The peripheral device blocks are organized into two major categories: host blocks and target blocks.
Target blocks interface with devices on the target. These blocks allow standard peripherals on the target system to be used.
The host blocks, in contrast, interface with devices on the host, even if the model is running on a remote target! The host blocks are particularly useful with embedded targets, since they allow desktop peripherals to be used with a model running on an embedded system. The host blocks require the Simulink model to be connected to the real-time code via external mode.
Host | Blocks which support devices attached to the host rather than the target. |
Target | Blocks which support device-independent access to hardware on the target, such as game controllers. |
